Dr. Simpson grew up in Glasgow, Kentucky. She attended Indiana University as an undergraduate and completed medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. From 1972-1975, she completed her pediatric residency at Columbia University in New York, then went on to a kidney fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She was a pediatric nephrologist at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago for 2 years before going into private pediatric practice in a Chicago suburb. After 25 years there, Dr. Simpson and her husband, David, moved to Bloomington. She has worked full-time in the Bedford office since May 2005. The Simpsons have two grown sons, Brian and Eric.
