I am originally from New York City (which I have been told is quite obvious once I start speaking) and I developed my interest in medicine during my high school years by volunteering in an emergency room in Harlem. My undergraduate and medical education were both at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, but I returned to New York for residencies in pediatrics and dermatology at Bellevue/NYU Medical Center. After staying at NYU in an academic position for a couple of years, I moved to Florida and worked as a part-time dermatologist and a full-time mother for six years. I then moved to upstate New York in solo private practice for 11 years. We moved to Southern California and I joined Kaiser Permanente in the summer of 2006.
