I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and attended medical school at Michigan State University. I moved to the Seattle area in 1992 to fulfill my dream of living near the mountains and ocean. I am married with two adult daughters and a Burmese cat named Misty. I chose to pursue medicine because I loved science and people. I also like to travel and experience the medical systems in other countries. I have led groups of medical and pharmacy students overseas to practice medicine in rural areas in Vietnam, Panama and Guatemala. I joined Kaiser Permanente because I practice evidence-based medicine. I believe this organization puts patients first, and it gives me the support I need to give the best care to my patients.
