Brief Intro

Dr. David Matthews has been with The Children's Clinic since 1998. He is a graduate of Harding University and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. His residency was performed at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dr. Matthews was on faculty at UAMS for approximately two years, then practiced in Stockton, California, for 11 years with Kaiser Permanente Medical Group. He chose to return to Arkansas in 1997. Dr. Matthews thoroughly enjoys working with parents over years of rearing their children. He prefers beginning a relationship with the child as soon as the child can talk and to forge a therapeutic relationship with the child later as an adolescent. Performing the pre-college physical is one of his greatest privileges. Areas of interest include Attention Deficit Disorder, Asthma care, and health care system engineering. His greatest lesson from being a pediatrician is that children grow up too quickly, and that our time to help them become great adults seems far too short. He is the father of three adult children and has been married to Rebecca since 1975. He enjoys landscaping, fly fishing, photography and is an avid walker.
