The excellent communication we maintain among area medical centers contributes to our ability to provide outstanding service to our patients. Dr. Daniel O'Dea, Chief of Cardiology at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, is affiliated with St. Francis, Vassar Brothers, Northern Dutchess, and St. Luke's/Cornwall hospitals and he uses these various affiliations to play a pivotal role for us in hospital-physician relations. As Managing Partner and Director of the CT Program, his ongoing research and evaluation of the latest technologies in the field keeps The Heart Center's cutting edge intact.
Dr. O'Dea's list of honors and distinctions is long and impressive. As an undergraduate, he was a member of the Rensselaer Society of Engineers, Phi Lambda Upsilon, and graduated with a B.S., cum laude, in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. O'Dea then completed his medical degree at New York Medical College. His postgraduate training took him to Boston for an internship and residency from University Hospital of Boston University. Back in New York, he completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Westchester County Medical Center.
He is the first cardiologist in Dutchess County to be board certified in Cardiovascular CT. He is also certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and American Board of Internal Medicine, with a subspecialty in cardiovascular disease. Among his voluntary services are: member, College Admissions Committee, New York Medical College; Fellow, American College of Cardiology; American Heart Association; American College of Physicians and the New York Cardiological Society.
He is also a widely published author in his field.
