Dr. Daniel D. Lee was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with Distinction in 1993 from Stanford University, California. Dr. Lee then received his Doctor of Medicine Degree at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in 1997. Internship and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery were completed at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, New York from 1997-2002. While in residency, Dr. Lee trained at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York, Harvard's Children's Hospital in Boston, and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He also participated in the care of multiple professional sports teams including the New York Jets, New York Rangers, and New York Islanders. His Spine Subspecialty Fellowship was completed at John Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland under Dr. John P. Kostuik , Chairman of Spine and Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Lee pursued a degree in Medical Acupuncture graduating from New York Medical College in 2002. He practices Ear, Hand, Meridian, and Element based acupuncture, as well as, electroacupuncture and moxibustion. Dr. Lee is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is currently an associate member of the North American Spine Society and a candidate fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the Kostuik Alumni Spine Society, American Medical Association, Complementary Alternative Medicine Society, and Korean American Medical Association.
Dr. Lee's spine interests include degenerative, traumatic, and deformity/scoliosis spinal pathologies, as well as, complex reconstructions and revision spine surgery. He has published peer reviewed papers on these topics in the Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Spine, and the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics. In addition, he has authored chapters in several spine textbooks including Frymoyer's The Adult Spine: Principles and Practice.
In his free time, Dr. Lee is a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He also enjoys swimming, basketball, guitar, learning about American History, especially the Civil War Period, watching Ohio State “Buckeye†Football and action movies.
