Dr Levy is a native Houstonian and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas Medical School in Houston and completed a pediatric residency and chief residency at the University of Texas at Houston Affiliated Hospitals. Following pediatric training, he completed the dermatology residency program at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM).
In 1986, he joined the faculty at BCM and became Chief of the Dermatology Service at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH). Dr Levy has won teaching awards from the medical students and pediatric residents at Baylor. Under his leadership, the pediatric dermatology service grew into one of the top programs in the U.S. He has been Chairman of the Dermatology Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics, was past President of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Archives of Dermatology. Dr Levy holds board certifications in pediatrics, dermatology, and pediatric dermatology.
His professional interests include general pediatric skin diseases, inherited skin disorders, vascular birthmarks, and clinical research activities. He has been a co-director of the vascular anomalies group at TCH for several years and began the laser program at TCH for the treatment of vascular birthmarks. Dr Levy has authored or co-authored over 100 journal articles and textbook chapters, and is a reviewer for multiple scientific journals. He often lectures at local, national, and international meetings.
Dr Levy has been married for 36 years and has two sons, a daughter-in-law and a grandson.
