Dr. Fredericks joined the Institute in 1990 following his service as clinical Instructor and Resident Supervisor in Neurosurgery at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles where he was also in private practice. He graduated from Stanford University with honors and attended George Washington University Medical School. He completed his general surgery internship at USC Medical Center where he was Assistant Resident in Neurosurgery. Dr. Fredericks also completed residency training in neurosurgery at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and was Senior Resident in Neurosurgery at Norris Cancer Hospital. At Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center he completed residency training in neuro-radiology, neuropathology, neurology and neurosurgery research. Dr. Fredericks is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Georgia Neurosurgical Society. He has been published in several neurosurgery textbooks due to his research in Stereotaxic surgery and the optic system and brings over 8 years of clinical experience to the Institute.
