Charles Metzger attended Texas A&M from 1982-1986, where he received his BS in Chemical Engineering. After working for 2 years as a chemical engineer, he changed professions, and went to the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston from 1988 to 1992, where he earned his MD degree. Dr. Metzger then completed a fully accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, from 1992 to 1997. He then served as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the Overton Brooks Veteran's Affairs Medical Center from 1997 to 1998. He then did an elective, extra year of training as a Fellow in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, from 1998 to 1999.
