As a Board Certified General Surgeon, Dr. Lovelady's expertise is on procedures of the abdomen including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, intestines, gallbladder and bile ducts. He also has extensive knowledge in the area of diseases involving the skin, breast and soft tissue, as well as hernias and antireflux surgeries. Dr. Lovelady has extensive experience in both Open and Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgery. Most of the Surgeries he performs are Minimally Invasive to include surgery to treat Gallbladder Disease, Appendicitis, and Hernia Repair. Dr. Lovelady performs Endoscopies of the Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal Tract [EDG's and Colonoscopies] as well as Bronchoscopy. Dr. Lovelady studied at the University of Alabama School of Medicine-Birmingham where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery residency at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, SC. He is a is a Board Certified General Surgeon, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Lovelady's work experience includes time in both private general surgical practice and [900] bed hospital based acute care surgical practice. He has spent much of his career in rural communities where he was called upon to perform a broad range of medical decision making, consults, surgeries and patient care. He has a background in acute care, as well as a focus on trauma/critical care established during his residency training.
