Brief Intro

Dr. Johnston is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He specializes in medical and surgical dermatology. He is a member of several medical groups, including: American Board of Dermatology, American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, American Osteopathic Association, West Virginia Dermatological Society, and Virginia Medical Society. He has authored and co-authored journal articles and has presented interesting cases at various dermatological meetings. Currently, Dr. Johnston also serves as the Co-Program Director of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine/Lewis-Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital Dermatology Residency Program. Chad Johnston, D.O., was born and raised in the New River Valley, in Peterstown, WV. He received his undergraduate education at West Virginia University in 1997. During his time at WVU, Dr. Johnston was a member of the Mountaineer football team from 1992-96. He was the starting quarterback for the Mountaineers during the 1994-96 seasons. He was elected team captain by his teammates and received many awards as a student athlete at WVU, for both athletic and academic achievement. After a brief professional football career, Dr. Johnston pursued a career in medicine. He attended the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000, and completed his D.O. in 2004. His post-medical graduate training includes his Osteopathic Internship at the Charleston Area Medical Center from 2004-05, Internal Medicine Internship at West Virginia University from 2005-06, and Dermatology Residency at WVU from 2006-2009. Dr. Johnston served as Chief Resident of Dermatology from 2008-2009. He joined New River Dermatology upon completion of his residency in July, 2009. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Johnston enjoys spending time with his family. Dr. Johnston enjoys coaching youth sports. Everyone in the family is an avid West Virginia Mountaineer fan.
