Brief Intro

Dr. Bryan Fox, MD joined the team at the Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center to establish an adult spinal surgery arm of the practice at Obici Hospital. He is an expert in minimally invasive spine surgery techniques, having performed over a thousand spinal surgeries and taught several types of highly effective and innovative spine surgery procedures. A graduate of Ohio State University, Dr. Fox completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia and his fellowship in Adult Spine Surgery from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He served in the US Navy for 25 years, 17 as a physician and 8 as a naval aviator. Most recently Dr. Fox served as the Chief of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA. Dr. Fox offers a wealth of experience in traditional as well as cutting edge spine surgery techniques. As a Navy surgeon, he established a multidisciplinary spine center that has become the model for spinal care throughout the US Military and his expertise in surgical and non-surgical management of spinal conditions make him a valuable resource for SMOC patients. Dr. Fox has called Hampton Roads home since 1996. He lives in Chesapeake, VA and enjoys woodworking, water skiing, wake boarding, skiing, running, and cycling.
