After graduating from UCLA with a BA in zoology, Dr. Rosenblatt attended medical school and received his MD degree from the University of California Davis. He completed his pediatric training and fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at UCLA Center for the Health Sciences. He spent an additional year of fellowship training doing research in tumor immunology at UCLA before taking a full-time faculty position with Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston in 1981.
He is board certified in pediatrics, allergy, asthma and immunology, and clinical diagnostic and laboratory immunology. For the past 26 years he has been actively involved in clinical practice, medical education, and clinical and basic research as co-director of the clinical immunology laboratory of the Allergy/Immunology section at TCH. He was member of the pediatric cardiac transplant service at TCH and in collaboration with the bone marrow transplant team has treated over 50 patients with primary immune deficiency with bone marrow and stem cell transplantation. He has been a co-investigator in several NIH sponsored multi-center clinical trials in pediatric AIDS and chaired the Immunology subcommittee of the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group as co-director of a core immunology laboratory.
In addition to his experience in the diagnosis and management of allergic diseases, his areas of special interest and research include: the diagnosis and treatment of primary and secondary immune deficiency, and immune reconstitution through stem cell and bone marrow transplantation. Dr. Rosenblatt looks forward to joining the medical community and participating in the ambitious clinical, educational, and research programs developing in Austin. He and his family are also excited to be living closer to friends and relatives in the area.
