Dr. DiGiovanni sees adolescent and adult patients. His special expertise includes ankle arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction, arthritic conditions, sports medicine injuries, and fractures and dislocations of the foot and ankle. He is an active researcher, with a particular interests in plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis/tendonopathy, and chronic ankle pain in the athlete. Dr. DiGiovanni earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery and research. Then, he completed Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle fellowships at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. being an active clinician, he is a researcher and medical educator. He has authored numerous medical journal articles and orthopaedic surgery textbook chapters. Dr. DiGiovanni is Director of the Foot and Ankle Fellowship program at URMC Orthopaedics and Director of Musculoskeletal Curriculum at University of Rochester School of Medicine. He is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and Professor of Orthopaedics. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (2001 Fellow class), and the American Orthopaedic Association (2011 class).
