Atul Bhatia, MD, was the first electrophysiologist to implant a "combo" device (combination defibrillator and biventricular pacemaker) in South Asia. He earned his medical degree from Government Medical College in Amritsar, India, and then came to the U.S. where he completed fellowships in both cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Wisconsin Medical School's Milwaukee Clinical Campus, Aurora Sinai Medical Center.
During his residency, Dr. Bhatia received several awards, including Outstanding Senior Resident of the Year at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center and the Rick Wartgow Award at Aurora Sinai Medical Center. He has authored or co-authored more than 17 original manuscripts, and has lectured at, as well as chaired, both national and international conferences.
Dr. Bhatia is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and a member of the Heart Rhythm Society (formerly NASPE) and the American Heart Association. (02/10)
