Brief Intro

Dr. Patel received his MBBS degree in 1972 in Gujarat, India and also completed his Post-graduation training in Internal Medicine at the K.M. School of Post graduate Medicine and Research, at Ahmedabad, India. Once he completed his Post-graduation training in medicine in India in 1977, he was accepted to the Internal Medicine Residency program at Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, affiliated with New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York. Dr. Patel then progressed to the Hematology Oncology Fellowship program at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, Brooklyn, New York and completed in 1984. Dr. Patel began his private practice and was appointed as a teaching faculty member at the Long Island College Hospital and the Brooklyn Hospital Center in 1984. He received Teacher of the Year awards in 1989 and 2003 at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and in 2000 at Long Island College Hospital. Currently, Dr. Patel is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. He served as Chief of Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Brooklyn Hospital Center from 2004 to 2009. Dr. Patel has also been a Program Director of the Hematology and Oncology fellowship program at the Brooklyn Hospital Center since 2001 an was also an Assistant Professor in Clinical Medicine at Cornell University. After pursuing 33 years of his career in Brooklyn, New York, he and his wife have decided to move to the Tri-Cities and continue his career at Columbia Basin Hematology and Oncology.
