Dr. Arthur Smith is Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Urology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He is world renowned for the management of kidney and urethral stones and developed a minimally invasive technique for removing kidney stones, performing this procedure in more than 5,000 patients. He formed the Endourology Society and was the President of that society for over 20 years. Dr. Smith has received many awards for his innovative clinical research, including the prestigious "Hugh Hampton Young Award" from the American Urological Society. He has been rated has one of "America's Best Doctors" and among the "Best Doctors in New York" for over 10 years. He is an honorary member of numerous international Urological Societies including the British, Indian, Peruvian and Dutch societies and is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate degree from the University of Athens.
