Arnold S. Prywes, MD graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, where he also completed an internship in Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology residency, and fellowship. Dr. Prywes is Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the New York University School of Medicine and Hofstra University School of Medicine, past Assistant Clinical Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Chief of the Glaucoma Service at the North Shore - Long Island Jewish Medical Center and past Chief of Ophthalmology and President of the Medical Staff at New Island Hospital. He is also the past President of the Long Island Ophthalmological Society, an Honor Award recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and actively involved in clinical research. Dr. Prywes is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American College of Surgeons. He is the former president of the Nassau County Medical Society and Nassau Academy of Medicine, , and is a former Councilor to the American Academy of Ophthalmology and President Elect of the New York State Ophthalmological Society. He is the holder of multiple patents, including the Aquesys Shunt, a minimally invasive glaucoma procedure presently in FDA clinical trials.. Dr. Prywes has been listed in the Castle-Connolly Guide to Top Doctors for over a decade.
