Greetings. Welcome to My Doctor Online, a website that my colleagues and I have developed to make it easier for you to interact with me and for me to take care of many of your healthcare needs. I'm eager to work with you to make your experience at Kaiser Permanente a positive one. My Background I was born in Syria and completed my basic medical training there. My internship and residency were in New Jersey at the Atlantic City Medical Center, during which I became very interested in hematology and medical oncology. I spent a few years of fellowship in the specialty, including three years at the Penn State Cancer Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, as well as two years at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Vancouver, Canada to train in blood and marrow transplantation. I have been a practicing hematologist-oncologist since 1986, starting in New Jersey and ending here in California. Roles & Responsibilities I currently work at the Kaiser Roseville hematology-oncology practice as a full time physician. My patients are my main responsibility. I always want to be my patients' advocate, discussing all the available information on cancer management and helping them to come to decisions to help to manage their illness. My Staff & Colleagues The Kaiser Roseville Oncology staff is great to work with. We are blessed with an excellent group of nurses. They provide chemotherapy counseling, advice for patients dealing with the disease, and the complications of the treatment, as well as administering chemotherapy treatments. Our medical assistants are true professionals when handling patient care issues such as answering the phones, returning messages, and dealing with day to day issues. We are a group of 15 oncologists, 8 of us work in Roseville and 7 in Sacramento at the Morse Avenue facility. We share knowledge and information all the time. Between all of us, we have more than 200 years of experience in the hematology-oncology field. On a Personal Note. . . I have been married to my wife Diane now for more than 20 years. We live in Sacramento. Unfortunately, we do not have any children (we did not get that lucky). But we have two collies that keep us busier than expected. I love to read, medicine and otherwise. Specifically, I am a history buff and as the old saying goes: "Those Who Forget History Are Doomed to Repeat It". We just moved back from Oregon to California. We did drive along highway 101, Avenue of the Giants and the many redwood trees parks. It was quite a sight.
