Burien dentist Dr. Alan Cooper has an infectious enthusiasm for dentistry and for treating his patients. He is excited to share with you tips and techniques that will help in your home care, as well as explain, to your satisfaction, the options you have to address your dental treatment needs.
EDUCATION
Dr. Cooper attended the University of Oregon, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in mathematics and economics. After ten years working in the high tech industry, he returned to the University of Washington Dental School where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
To maintain the highest level of care for his patients, Dr. Cooper is committed to reinforcing his skills and toolset to ensure the latest research, clinical advancements and technology are appropriately incorporated into his practice. He is dedicated to continuing education, and is actively involved in two long standing professional education groups, the Premiere Dental Implant Study Group and the Burien Dental Study Group.
AWARDS AND MEMBERSHIPS
Dr. Cooper is an honored past recipient of the University of Washington School of Dentistry's Denny P. Duskin Inspirational Award. He was selected by his colleagues and peers to honor his outstanding character, personality and integrity.
He was also recognized with an Academy of General Dentistry Award as a young dentist who demonstrates great potential in delivering quality dental care.Â
He is also a past invitee of the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences.
Each year since 2002, Dr. Cooper has been recognized by the Consumer's Research Council of America as one of America's Top Dentists.
Dr. Cooper maintains active memberships in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association and the Seattle King County Dental Society.
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE
Dr. Cooper finds no better joy than spending time with his wife, Jaycee (a Tyee High School grad) and his four elementary aged children, son Grayson, twin daughters Isabella and Olivia and the youngest, Ellianna. Dr. Cooper enjoys camping, hiking, mountain bike riding, travelling, reading dental research journals, and participating in the many sports and activities of his children.
Cavities are Caused By Bad Bacteria
The bacteria that cause cavities are passed from parents to their children. Parents who take good care of their own teeth reduce the number of bacteria in their mouths, and have less chance that these bad bugs will pass to their kids.  Mom and Dad can help keep their kid's teeth healthy by simply brushing and flossing twice each day themselves!Â
At Dr. Alan Cooper's Burien dental office, family dentistry means we treat each member of the family, as well as the whole family, so that we achieve the outstanding results we strive for.
