Brief Intro

I was born and brought up in Nairobi, Kenya. I attended medical school in Cairo, Egypt, moved to California in 1988 to further my career, and came to Washington in 2005. My spouse is a physician. I have a son, daughter, and daughter-in-law, and a toy Dachshund who takes me for long walks. Medicine is in my DNA. My father and great-grandfather were physicians. As a child, I carried my father_s black bag during house calls. His patients always asked me, Are you also going to become a doctor? I am an associate clinical professor for occupational medicine at UW, and medical director of occupational medicine at Kaiser Permanente. I am board certified in occupational and environmental medicine and internal medicine, and have a master_s degree in public health from UCLA.
