Dr. CHENGLONG (Chris) LIU, LAc is a LICENSED ACUPUNCTURIST
INTEGRATIVE and CHINESE NATURAL MEDICINE Specialist
The Evidence Based natural medicine clinic was started by Dr. Liu, who graduated from Shanghai Medical University and University of California at Los Angeles, and worked as medical researcher at Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University for many years.
Though Dr. Liu attended Western Medicine School, he was keen on traditional Chinese natural medicine too. While attending Shanghai Medical University, he practiced TuiNa medical massage at ZhongShan Hospital for over one year.
The reason why Dr. Liu started this clinic arises from an incident he encountered. After coming back from traveling abroad, Dr. Liu found himself hit with a range of motion issue in the left shoulder. He realized he might have the frozen shoulder problem (Adhesive Capsulitis). He saw a physical therapist first and then was referred to an orthopedist, who told him to either take steroid injection or undergo surgery. Astonished by the findings, Dr. Liu started to self Tuina the left shoulder with his right arm. Within 2 weeks, he fully recovered, without taking a single pain killer, steroid injection or surgery.
Realizing the shortage of good natural medicine in this country even in the 21st Century, Dr. Liu is actively engaging in evaluating and providing evidence-based natural medicine to his patients.
Evidence Based NATURAL MEDICINE
Master in Acupuncture and Medical Massage
Though acupuncture and TuiNa have been through centuries, they are advancing through integrating Chinese and Western medicine ingredients. By combining traditional needling and Tui Na massage skills with anatomy knowledge, modern acupuncture and medical massage have dramatically improved treatment effects in muscle and soft tissue pain issues. That’s why modern acupuncturists are also nicknamed as “holistic muscle doctors”.
With Natural Medicine at its Core, acupuncture and medical massage practitioners believe that the human body possesses an innate ability to heal itself. By stipulating specific body parts, such as acupoints, trigger points or local pain points, acupuncture and medical massage improve blood flow to affected areas, regulate body Qi and energy, and then promote the body’s natural healing process. Acupuncture and medical massage are often viewed as holistic approaches to health, as they take into account the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and emotional well-being. In addition to needle insertion and medical massage, other techniques such as cupping, moxibustion (the burning of dried herbs) and acupressure are also used to enhance the therapeutic effects.
Combined with strong medical and research backgrounds, EB Natural Medicine is to provide MODERN acupuncture and medical massage services to our local community, minimizing their exposure to opioid painkillers and unnecessary surgeries.
We look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to get in touch. Thanks!
