Dr. Gordon received his B.S. degree with High Distinction in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 1983 and with highest Honors from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1987. He graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Society (AOA) from The John Hopkins University School of Medicine, distinguishing him as one of the top 12 students (top 10%) of his graduating class. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Evanston Hospital/Northwestern University Affiliated Hospital in 1989. His Residency in Ophthalmology took place at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine in 1991 and his Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery was completed at The Retina Institute of Maryland in Baltimore in 1992.
Dr. Gordon was the recipient of several honors and awards, including The Everett L. Goar Research Award in Ophthalmology while at the Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Gordon has participated in many research and scientific presentations on a variety of topics. He is the co-author of numerous published research papers, and was part of much of the pioneering work for macular hole surgery during his fellowship.
He is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists. He has been a member of numerous associations and societies including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the University of Michigan, Baylor College of Medicine and The Johns Hopkins University Alumni Associations. Since joining Associated Retina Consultants in 1992, Dr. Gordon has been an active member of the Arizona Ophthalmological Society and Phoenix Ophthalmological Society, and was elected President of the Phoenix Ophthalmological Society between 2002-2003.
He has the title of Associate Clinical Professor and Associate Director for Retina Services at the Maricopa County Medical Center. Including teaching responsibilities to residents from the Wills Eye Hospital and Mayo Clinic national programs. In our practice, Dr. Gordon is the Research Director and leading Primary Investigator for numerous nationwide clinical drug studies involving state of the art research in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion. Dr. Gordon is the Chairman of our national accredited fellowship program.

Dr Gordon has 3 children and has an interest in many sports including golfing, tennis, and skiing. He enjoys photography, food, wine and spending time with his family. He is dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate care for his patients.
